Zelenskyy Exposes Western Components in Russian Missiles, Urges Tighter Sanctions
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed that Russian missiles and drones used in recent attacks contain thousands of foreign-made components. Despite no public evidence of Western companies delivering these systems directly, components from the UK, US, and EU were found in Russian weaponry. Zelenskyy has urged partners to close sanctions loopholes enabling Russia to source these parts.
On October 5-6, a massive attack involved 549 weapon systems with 102,785 foreign-made components. These included Shahed drones with Nvidia AI hardware and other imported parts from Western manufacturers. The 'Components in the aggressor's weapon' database lists over 5,000 distinct foreign components tied to 177 weapon systems. Earlier investigations also found extensive use of imported electronics in Russian systems like Iskander missiles. Manufacturers span multiple countries, highlighting the need for stricter sanctions enforcement.
The presence of foreign components in Russian weaponry underscores the importance of closing sanctions loopholes. Zelenskyy's repeated calls for action emphasize the need for international cooperation to limit Russia's access to these crucial parts.
