Headline: The 2025 AgriTech Challenge Pro Boosts Ghana's Agricultural Sector and Job Creation

The 2025 AgriTech Challenge Pro, a significant event hosted by the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) and Mastercard Foundation, took place last week at KNUST Business School. Over two days (May 22-23), 43 teams pitched their innovative ideas, ranging from tech-based farming tools to eco-friendly food innovations, with the aim to create jobs and reshape Ghana's agricultural sector.

These youth-led startups, now onboarded into KIC's flagship Business Incubation Program, will receive specialized coaching, mentorship, networking opportunities, and physical office space to scale their innovations. The startups focus on a range of agricultural innovations, including sustainable aquaculture, climate-resilient technologies, and improved animal feed production, tackling major challenges in Ghana’s food security and agriculture productivity.

For instance, companies like Agro KiniSols are redefining guinea fowl farming, while Rabbitton Ghana Ltd is producing innovative livestock feed to improve animal health and farmer incomes. The AgriTech Challenge Pro not only celebrates innovation but also helps drive job creation by nurturing startups that empower young entrepreneurs and create employment opportunities in rural and peri-urban communities.

The event showcased bold ideas that could potentially lead to wider economic growth in the agricultural value chain. Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, Executive Director of KIC, stated that this year's Challenge Pro showcased the brilliance and resilience of Ghana's youth. He also reaffirmed the transformative power of agriculture and technology.

The winners of the competition were Ecobroma and PureLube, who received $20,000 and $25,000 in seed funding respectively. Other winners, such as Mushplus Agri-Foods, Zenags Organics, and Peanut Pride, received $10,000 and $5,000 each. These winning teams, along with the selected teams, will refine their solutions and scale up their businesses through KIC's network and support systems.

In summary, the 2025 AgriTech Challenge Pro has had a positive impact on Ghana’s agricultural sector by accelerating technology-driven solutions and generating sustainable jobs, particularly among youth agripreneurs. The winners serve as examples of the competition's role in boosting innovation and enterprise in agriculture.

An entrepreneur in the agricultural sector, Agro KiniSols, is redefining guinea fowl farming, showcasing how technology can drive innovation in rural communities. The winners of the 2025 AgriTech Challenge Pro, such as Ecobroma and PureLube, received financial backing to scale their businesses, demonstrating the role of finance in supporting entrepreneurs and bolstering agriculture productivity.
