WhatsApp's New Status Feature Lets You Ask Questions Directly

WhatsApp has rolled out a new interactive feature for status messages, allowing users to ask questions directly within the app. This update, currently in beta testing, is available to select Android users who have joined the beta program.

The question feature appears as a sticker in the status editor. Once a user views the relevant status, they can compose and send a question. The status owner will then receive a pop-up notification. Answers given are listed in the status view and remain private, visible only to the sender and recipient.

However, if the counterpart does not have a compatible WhatsApp version, they will receive a message that the status contains an unsupported function. This feature is integrated into the beta app version 2.25.29.12, which is currently being tested by selected beta testers.

WhatsApp's new question-status feature is a step towards more interactive communication within the app. It maintains privacy by keeping answers between the sender and recipient. Meanwhile, the company continues to warn users about potential privacy breaches related to the EU chat control.
