Got your heart set on knowing if some cat has stored your digits in their device? Well, luckily (or unluckily), ol' WhatsApp ain't got a dedicated feature for that. But fret not, we got a workaround for ya! We're gonna show you how to leverage the broadcast feature, which was designed for something entirely different, to get the info you crave.
WhatsApp: Decipher if Your Number's Saved, the Pro Tips
You'll need to use the broadcast function to pull this off. To access it, tap on the + sign in the top right corner of the chats list, then pick "New Broadcast."
Now, choose two peeps: the suspicious character and a person whose contacts you know for certain have your number tucked away. Send a casual chat-up line, like "Hey, what's shakin'?"
The message will be sent to both recipients separately. Now, just hang tight and wait.
Read Me or Ignore Me?
Remember, WhatsApp is all about security, so your message will only make it through if the person in question has your number saved in their device. If the chat view shows two gray checkmarks for "delivered" or blue checkmarks for "read," well, ya hooray! That person has got you counted among their contacts.
However, if the wait's prolonged, and only one checkmark appears, it means your message didn't get through yet. It could be too early, or they might not be chattin' on WhatsApp.
My Two Cents
This trick has its fair share of limitations. For starters, if the person's offline, or they don't use WhatsApp at all, your message won't reach 'em.
But, if you see the two checkmarks, we can bet our bottom dollar that your number is in their contacts.
