Wenden Fire Department Boosts Safety with 12 New Chainsaw Operators
The Wenden fire department successfully trained 12 new chainsaw operators over four weekends. All participants passed both the theoretical and practical exams, marking a significant boost to the department's operational safety.
The comprehensive 'Technical Assistance - Forest' course, lasting 30 hours, covered crucial aspects such as personal protective equipment and safe chainsaw handling. Practical training involved essential skills like assessing and felling standing trees, cutting lying wood, and processing storm and fallen wood.
The Wenden fire department expressed gratitude towards Forstkontor Sommer GmbH and the butcher shop Alterauge for their cooperation and catering during the course. Deputy fire chief Kevin Frohnenberg praised the course and its instructor, Christopher Quast, highlighting its importance for safer operations.
With all 12 participants passing the exam, the Wenden fire department has strengthened its chainsaw operator team. The successful completion of the course, with its thorough theory and practical training, ensures the department's readiness for various forestry and emergency situations.
