Walmart increases Express Delivery hours up to 10 PM.

Walmart, everybody's favorite megastore, has upped the ante in the race for convenience! The retail titan has announced the expansion of its delivery hours to include late-night delivery, dubbed Late-Night Express Delivery. Now, if you order by 9:30 p.m., your goodies will wing their way to you by 10 p.m., as revealed in a recent statement. Previously, delivery ended at 8 p.m., but Walmart's got your back now when dinnertime is over and that last-minute gift-buying panic sets in.

Late-night delivery isn't the only late-hour service joining the lineup. Walmart's pickup and delivery offerings are growing bigger than ever, with Express Delivery promising to deliver your orders within 30 minutes to 90 minutes. For even more flexibility, On-Demand Delivery lets you choose a delivery time that suits your schedule—whether it's the same day or the next.

Walmart isn't stopping there. The company's been testing its Live Shopper feature since May, letting customers text in real-time with last-minute additions or substitutions as their order is being filled. Soon, it'll seem like your order's being swung by a friend at the store instead of a company drone!

With online pickup and delivery currently available at over 4,000 stores across the nation, Walmart is extending its late-night delivery services to cover more ground. And it's been a busy year for the retail giant: in February, Walmart reported a massive surge in e-commerce sales, with a whopping 18% growth for Sam's Club in Q2, thanks in large part to curbside pickup.

In other delivery-related updates, Walmart has expanded its InHome delivery service—first introduced in 2019—which allows orders to be delivered to your garage, kitchen counter, or fridge. InHome also handles returns and brings them back to the store. At the moment, InHome is operational in 46 markets, including Miami, Dallas, and San Francisco, reaching about 35 million households.

Although Late-Night Express Delivery isn't explicitly mentioned in recent announcements, Walmart has been making big moves in delivery infrastructure recently, such as Express Delivery for prescriptions, optimizing delivery routes with geospatial technology, and remodeling stores to accommodate expanded online pickup and delivery areas. Keep an eye out for more updates on Late-Night Express Delivery!

Beacon: Behind the Scenes

In a statement, Tom Ward, executive vice president and chief e-commerce officer for Walmart U.S., admitted the all-too-familiar late-night realization: "We've all been there. The workday is finished, dinner and the dishes are done, and suddenly it hits you—you don't have a gift for tomorrow's party, cookies for the school fundraiser, or the ultimate nightmare—you've run out of your favorite coffee pods."

Retailers across the boards have been prioritizing buy online, pick up in store, curbside, and home delivery services as customers seek speed and convenience. With Walmart's e-commerce sales continuing to soar, it's no surprise that the retailer is focusing on delivering its products quickly and efficiently.

In February 2025, Walmart reported that store-fulfilled delivery sales nearly tripled over the last two years, with the company generating more than $1 billion a month in that category. As further evidence of its commitment to delivering speed and convenience, Walmart rolled out hexagonal zoning in mid-April 2025, optimizing delivery routes, expanding coverage, and serving 12 million additional households.
