Vattenfall's Tützpatz Plant: Germany's Largest Agri-Photovoltaic Milestone
Vattenfall has made significant strides in Agri-Photovoltaics, commissioning Germany's largest plant in Tützpatz with a capacity of 76 MWp. This project combines solar power generation with agriculture and livestock farming, marking a milestone in the sector.
The Tützpatz plant, covering 93 hectares, consists of three phases. 'Tützpatz 1' uses classic modules, while 'Tützpatz 2' and 'Tützpatz 3' employ tracking systems for enhanced efficiency. It features 146,000 bifacial 550-watt solar modules and is connected to the Edis network.
Vattenfall plans to expand this concept by 2025, with six mobile chicken houses and a four-year crop rotation for agriculture. The plant can theoretically power about 4,600 mobile base stations annually. A battery storage system with a capacity of 50.4 MW and 109 MWh is planned for 2027.
The plant was realized without EEG funding and has a ten-year PPA with PASM. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has released around 5,000 hectares of land for photovoltaic open-field plants, demonstrating the state's support for such projects. Minister of Finance and Digitalization Heiko Geue praised the Tützpatz concept.
