Daily Wordle challenge: Unravel the five-letter word, mystery still unsolved

Every day, I consult Wordle Bot to aid in my Wordle rampage. You can join me by Wordle Bot.

Well, this one didn't fly as expected. I started with CROAK, which resulted in a dreadful 274 possibilities and only one solitary 'O' glowing yellow. FELON trimmed the word choices down to 27, but I was woefully clueless without more hints. Juggling my options was a futile endeavor. SOUND slid the 'O' into the green zone, followed by MONTH giving me my second green box with just two words remaining. In a twist, I only could think of BONGO, but to my pleasant surprise, GONZO was also a possibility. Alas, BONGO was the victorious word!

Competitive Wordle Score:

I concede the daily lead to the Bot by -1 point for guessing in five and losing to the mastermind, leaving my May tally at -2 points. The Bot shines with a 1 point advantage for guessing in three and dominating me. The current May standings read:

Erik: -2 pointsWordle Bot: 1 point

How to Play Competitive Wordle:

  1. A successful first guess earns 3 points.
  2. A successful second guess grants 2 points.
  3. A successful third guess awards 1 point.
  4. A fourth guess earns 0 points.
  5. A fifth guess incurs a -1 point penalty.
  6. A sixth guess resulting in a miss leads to a -3 point penalty.

If you outrun your adversary, you receive 1 point. In a tie, you receive 0 points. A loss results in a -1 point penalty.

Optional scoring systems may involve a daily tally or a day-by-day playstyle. Fridays double your points, whether they are positive or negative.

Today's Wordle Etymology:

The English term "bongo" refers to a type of drum, dating back to the 1920s. It was adopted via Spanish from Bantu languages such as ngoma or mgombo, which mean "drum."
