UFC Includes Thrilling Lightweight Bout in March 1 Lineup
Esteban Ribovics is all set for his next fight, and MMA fans are definitely excited about it.
If you watched Noche UFC, you should recall Merab Dvalishvili vanquishing Sean O’Malley to become the bantamweight champion, and Valentina Shevchenko reclaiming her women's flyweight title from Alexa Grasso.
However, the most unforgettable fight on the card was the duel between Ribovics and Daniel Zellhuber. These two promising lightweight fighters gave an epic performance at the Sphere, and Ribovics emerged victorious via split decision. Ribovics and Zellhuber were both honored with Fight of the Night bonuses, and UFC President Dana White showered them with praise. Both fighters saw their reputation boost due to their impressive performances.
Ribovics seems to be on the brink of getting a chance to face a ranked opponent. His potential final challenge could be the one he's about to face.
According to Tapology’s Marcel Dorff, Ribovics is slated to take on seasoned veteran Nasrat Haqparast on March 1 at UFC Vegas 103.
This fight might be just another war for Ribovics, but it's a crucial test before potentially facing a ranked opponent.
Ribovics, 28, is currently 14-1.
His only setback came in his initial fight as a member of the UFC’s main roster. Ribovics managed to secure his spot on the roster after scoring a first-round KO victory over Thomas Paull on the Contender Series in 2022.
However, he faced a hiccup in his main-roster debut, losing to Loik Radzhabov via unanimous decision in March 2023. Since then, Ribovics has gone on a three-fight winning streak which included his victory over Zellhuber and an awe-inspiring head-kick KO of Terrance McKinney in May.
Haqparast has been on a roll too. He's won his previous four fights, and it seems like the winner of this fight is destined to fight a ranked fighter next time.
