Ubisoft reveals revised Assassin's Creed Shadows schedule, introducing New Game+ and higher level limits, supporting the strategy of delaying play for months or even years on new Ubisoft titles
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the open-world RPG developed by Dying Light: The Beast director, is gearing up for an exciting summer and beyond. Ubisoft has revealed an updated roadmap for the game, detailing what's to come this season and beyond.
The journey begins on July 29 with a significant update. This update will introduce new features such as the long-awaited New Game+ mode, which allows players to carry over their character level, gear, skill points, Hideout progression, and knowledge rank into a new playthrough. The level cap will increase from 60 to 80, with new knowledge ranks (9 and 10), a new forge level (Level 4), and additional achievements and trophies.
This update also marks the first increase in the game's level cap, providing a boost to endgame content and replay value. Furthermore, the Hideout will receive upgrades, and the map will be unfogged during viewpoint synchronization. The update will also uncap the frame rate on PC, offering a smoother gaming experience.
For those who have been eagerly waiting for more content, the update will also add Project 3 to the Animus menu, bringing along new resources, data files, and exclusive Animus-themed rewards. Additionally, the new Mythic and Artifact upgrade levels will be added to Forge, and players can expect new Knowledge Ranks, Mastery, and Knowledge Skill ranks, and upgrades for all Hideout buildings.
As the summer progresses, Assassin's Creed Shadows will receive a quality-of-life improvement update on September 1. This free update will add features such as the ability to fast-forward time of day, removal of fog from the World Map, Hideout updates, uncapped framerate in cutscenes specifically for PC players, and more free content aimed at improving player experience.
Later in September, the first expansion for Assassin's Creed Shadows, Claws of Awaji, will be released. This significant paid expansion will introduce a new region, a new weapon (Bo Staff used by protagonist Naoe with new combat and grappling moves), new abilities, outfits, legendary gear, an enemy faction, bosses, and additional story content. Pre-order customers will get this expansion for free; pricing details for others have not been disclosed.
Ubisoft's commitment to extend Assassin's Creed Shadows' lifespan through substantial free content and paid expansions is evident in this roadmap. The roadmap updates and expansion highlight the focus on both gameplay depth and quality improvements, ensuring that players get the most out of their investment.
For long-time series fans, the update will also bring additional goodies that may be familiar. New Game+ will also give players the option to skip the game's prologue and tutorial sections. Moreover, the update will include the option to skip time of day from dusk 'til dawn and vice-versa.
