Wordle Breakdown

Every day, I check Wordle Bot to help me analyze my guessing game. You can analyze your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here!

TRADE turned out to be a good choice today. I've been using less common letters at the start like 'B' and 'D', and they've worked well for me. Today, I was left with 16 possible solutions, and many of the ones I came up with started with 'D', so I picked DROLL. If I'd remembered that today's Wordle was BOXER, I might have chosen DROOL instead. Boxers do love to drool!

Competitive Wordle Scores

I score 1 point for guessing in 3, and 0 points if I tie with the Bot - again!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guess in 1 for 3 points, 2 for 2 points, 3 for 1 point, 4 for 0 points, 5 for -1 points, and 6 for -2 points. Missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • Beat your opponent to gain 1 point, tie for 0 points, and lose 1 point.
  • Double your points on Fridays.
  • Track your score daily or play for a new score each day.

Wordle Etymology

The word 'drool' is believed to originate from the verb 'drivel', an Old English term meaning 'to let saliva drip from the mouth', related to the concept of flowing or dripping liquid. Over time, 'drool' evolved in the 19th century to specifically mean saliva spilling or dripping from the mouth. The playful sound of the word itself might mimic the act it describes, making it an example of onomatopoeia.
