Tesla to Introduce Subscription Model for Full Self-Driving (FSD) in Australia and New Zealand

Tesla is planning to introduce a news subscription model for its Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature, according to techAU. The price for the service is set at A$149 per month, offering drivers a chance to try the technology without the large upfront cost.

The subscription model follows a limited release last month for a select few under the Early Access Program. The general public in Australia and New Zealand can now officially access the FSD (Supervised) software. However, it's important to note that the information about the tesla stock subscription model is not confirmed by Tesla themselves.

The software update is currently available for Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles equipped with Hardware 4 (HW4/AI4). Unfortunately, owners of older HW3 Tesla vehicles are waiting for a timeline for the FSD update, as Tesla has not yet confirmed if or when these vehicles will receive the update.

For those who have already purchased FSD, the outright price is A$10,100 (approximately C$9,000-$9,300) in Australia and NZ$10,900 in New Zealand. Early adopters who bought FSD years ago paid as little as A$7,500 (C$6,800).

Tesla anticipates many owners to opt in temporarily, such as during long road trips, and then pause the service when not needed. The subscription model could be more practical, given that a driver would need to subscribe for over five and a half years to match the outright purchase price.

The rollout for the FSD update 12.5.1.5 for older HW3 Teslas began rolling out with the 2024.26.20 software update, reinstating support for HW3 vehicles after it was paused since version 12.4.x. This rollout started in mid to late 2024 and continues as Tesla refines performance and features for HW3 users.

It's worth mentioning that a referral link provided offers three months of Full Self-Driving (FSD) for new Tesla buyers. However, this offer is not related to the FSD subscription model mentioned earlier.

Stay tuned for more updates on Tesla's FSD subscription model.
