Tesla enthusiasts in Canada eagerly await the arrival of the Tesla Model Y Performance, though no official launch date has been confirmed. Meanwhile, deliveries of standard Tesla Model Ys from Germany have commenced in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but the Performance variant's inclusion remains unclear.
Tesla has unveiled the Tesla Model Y Performance in the United States, boasting impressive specifications. This variant can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h), with a range of 308 miles (496 km).
The Performance model features a sleek design with new front and rear fascias, a carbon fiber spoiler, and distinctive 21-inch Arachnid wheels. Inside, drivers enjoy heated and ventilated sport seats, powered thigh extenders, and a 16-inch high-resolution touchscreen. New Drive Modes offer enhanced performance control.
U.S. customers can order the Tesla Model Y Performance now, with deliveries slated to begin in December. Those placing orders before midnight on September 30 qualify for a US$7,500 federal tax credit, reducing the price to US$49,990. The starting price in the U.S. is US$57,490, including any paint colour and tow hitch.
While Canadians await official word on the Tesla Model Y Performance's launch, U.S. customers can already enjoy its impressive performance and features. As deliveries commence in the U.S., Canadian Tesla fans hope for a similar timeline, though no specific release date has been announced.
