Tesla Accelerates Optimus Production with Hiring Push

Tesla, the pioneering electric vehicle company, is pushing forward with the development and production of its humanoid robot, Optimus. Karissa Thein, a Senior Sourcer at Tesla, confirmed the hiring push for Optimus in a recent LinkedIn post.

The job postings for various manufacturing roles related to Optimus have been made on Tesla's careers page. These roles range from Manufacturing Engineering Technicians to Quality Engineers, indicating that Tesla is assembling a specialized team dedicated to Optimus production.

The hiring push suggests that Tesla is preparing for large-scale production of its AI-powered robot. Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, has stated that Optimus could be Tesla's most important product in the future. He also mentioned that the V1 production line for Optimus will be able to produce roughly 1,000 units per month.

Tesla employs specialists in artificial intelligence and robotics at its Fremont Factory in California, where Optimus production is taking place. The team, led by Karissa Thein, is working on ramping up Optimus for high-volume production.

In 2022, Tesla unveiled the first working prototype of Optimus. Since then, significant advancements in the movements and capabilities of Optimus have been shown, most notably in the Gen 2 prototype unveiled in late 2023.

The long-term goal for Optimus is for it to take on repetitive or dangerous jobs in various industries. The first deliveries of Optimus to companies outside of Tesla are expected to take place in the second half of 2026.

In a bid to attract potential buyers, Tesla offers a referral link for a three-month trial of Full Self-Driving (FSD).

With Tesla now actively recruiting engineers and production specialists, the transition from prototype to practical deployment for Optimus appears to be well underway. The production of Optimus at Tesla's Fremont Factory in California is a significant step towards the future of AI and robotics.
