The Steam Locomotive Experience World in Meiningen, Thuringia, Germany, is set to host a new special exhibition starting August 9, 2025. This unique attraction, opened mid-2024, offers visitors a hands-on experience with steam locomotive engineering and is currently undergoing an expansion to convert the former canteen into a dedicated steam locomotive museum.

The special exhibition, titled "Fire - Water - Coal. Taming the Three Primordial Elements," will run until spring 2026. It will cover various aspects of railway history, including the Trans-Siberian Railway, dining cars, and vehicle oddities. Over 50 exhibition frames will showcase collections related to steam locomotives, diesel engines, tickets, Mitropa, and more.

In addition to the exhibition frames, visitors can interact with the 'Writing Station,' a new, unique feature of the special exhibition. This activity invites visitors of all ages to write cards or letters during their visit. The 'Writing Station' is separate from the exhibition frames and other displays, offering a distinct and engaging experience.

The Meiningen Philatelic Society will collaborate with the Steam Locomotive Experience World on the exhibition. New postcards, two individual stamps, and a special stamp have been designed for the event. The exhibition will also feature paintings by Peter König, themed around railways.

A special card featuring locomotive 50 3501 of the Meiningen Steam Locomotive Association will be available, with proceeds supporting the preservation of the locomotive. Tickets for the exhibition are likely to be purchased on-site, though specific pricing details were not found in the search results.

Visitors are encouraged to attend this exciting event and explore the rich history of railways in a hands-on and immersive manner. For more information or to purchase tickets, checking local tourism websites or contacting the Meiningen Steam Locomotive Works directly would be the most reliable next step.
