Tech giant Samsung is employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to revolutionize the design of its upcoming devices, Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.
In a recent announcement, Samsung has expanded its foldable smartphone portfolio with the launch of three new devices: the Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE.
The Z Flip7, the successor to the Z Flip3, boasts a slimmer design compared to its predecessor. It features a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen and a 6.9-inch main display. The cover screen now includes the Now Bar, displaying real-time activities.
The Z Fold7, on the other hand, offers a 6.5-inch dynamic AMOLED 2x cover screen and an 8-inch main display when unfolded. The main camera of the Z Fold7 has been upgraded to 200 megapixels with an f/1.7 aperture.
Both the Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 come with three storage options: 256GB and 512GB with 12GB RAM, and 1TB with 16GB RAM. The Z Fold7 is available in Jetblack, Blue Shadow, and Silver Shadow, while the Z Flip7 is available in Jetblack, Blue Shadow, Coralred, and the Z Flip7 FE in white and black.
Samsung has also added DeX support to the Z Flip series, allowing for a desktop-like experience. An upgraded version of Google’s Gemini assistant, featuring an AI mode for Q&A-style conversations, will be available on the new Samsung devices.
The Z Fold7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, while the Z Flip7 FE uses the Exynos2400 processor. The Z Flip7 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both the cover and back.
In terms of battery, the Z Flip7 is equipped with a 4,300 mAh battery, and the Z Fold7's specifications are yet to be disclosed.
Google's Gemini Live is supported on both the Z Flip7's cover screen, enabling assistant access without unfolding the phone and integrating with Samsung Notes. The Z Flip7 cover screen offers music and video recommendations based on existing subscriptions and presents Now Brief, providing summaries of traffic, reminders, events, and fitness insights.
The Z Flip7 FE is available in white and black, with 128GB and 256GB versions, and 8GB RAM. It maintains the $1,100 starting price of its predecessor, while the Z Fold7 is priced at $1,999, a $100 increase over the Z Fold6. The Z Flip7 FE is priced at $899.
Pre-orders for the Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE begin today, with general availability scheduled for July 25. Samsung has hinted at the likely integration of Perplexity AI in their Galaxy phones, further enhancing the user experience.
