Nintendo Switch Online Membership Required for Mario Paint on Nintendo Switch 2
Starting from March 31, 2026, a Nintendo Switch Online membership will be necessary to utilise GameChat on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This membership also grants access to a wide range of classic games, including the recently added Mario Paint.
Mario Paint, originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, allows players to create animated sequences and write music. To play the game on a Nintendo Switch system, a compatible USB mouse (sold separately) is required for the original Nintendo Switch, while the Joy-Con 2 controller can be used like a mouse on the Nintendo Switch 2.
