Spain's Electric Mobility Boom: 11,000 Pure EVs Sold in June 2025
Spain's electric mobility sector is thriving, with over 11,000 pure electric passenger cars sold in June 2025. This signifies an 83% increase from the same period last year, totaling over 111,000 units so far in 2025. One in five vehicles sold in Spain now has some form of electrification.
The growth isn't confined to sales alone. Spain's charging infrastructure has witnessed remarkable expansion. As of the first half of 2025, the country boasts nearly 50,000 active public access charging points for electric vehicles. This is a significant leap from the first fast charging point installed on a Catalan highway by Endesa.
High-power charging points have also seen substantial growth. Those with capacities of 50-250 kW and above 250 kW have increased by 64.07% and 53.71% respectively. Rapid charging points (22-50 kW) have also recorded a 21.34% increase. These charging points are strategically situated along highways and in public areas, supporting the growth of electric mobility. Key logistic hubs like Barcelona are also witnessing increased infrastructure, connected to transport and e-commerce growth. Even extreme conditions, like those in Andalusia, are being tested with electric buses.
The number of charging points may fluctuate due to factors such as maintenance, updates, or CPO decisions.
Spain's electric mobility sector continues to grow at a rapid pace, with record-breaking electric car registrations and expanding charging infrastructure. As one in five vehicles sold now has some form of electrification, the country is well on its way to a more sustainable future.
