Sochi Expands Urban Electric Train Project for Faster, More Convenient Travel
Sochi, one of Russia's largest urban agglomerations, is set to enhance its public transport system with the expansion of its 'Urban Electric Train' project. The new schedule will make travel more convenient, with electric trains running between Sochi and the Imeretinsky Resort.
The journey to Imeretinsky Resort will take 48 minutes by train, with tickets priced at 208 rubles. The waiting interval between trains has been reduced to an average of 40 minutes, making transfers more efficient. The bus schedule will also be adjusted to complement these changes.
The expanded route covers a stretch from the center of Sochi through key areas like Matsesta, Host, and Adler, all the way to Sirius. This will significantly improve connectivity across the city. A total of 26 commuter trains will operate in both directions on this route.
The 'Lastochka' train, a staple in Sochi and Sirius since 2013, will continue to serve the community. During the tourist season, these trains will help alleviate traffic congestion. The earliest train from Sochi departs at 5:25, and from Imeretinsky Resort at 3:51.
In December 2025, an additional 26 electronic trains from 'Kuban Express-Prigorod' are scheduled to be put into operation, further bolstering the fleet.
The implementation of these changes is expected to significantly improve public transport in Sochi, providing a more efficient and convenient service for residents and visitors alike.
