Sagrada Familia's Tower of Jesus Christ Set to Dominate Barcelona Skyline by Late 2025

Barcelona's iconic Sagrada Familia is set to reach a significant milestone. By late 2025 or early 2026, the central spire, known as the Tower of Jesus Christ, will be completed. This will make it the most commanding feature of the city's skyline, surpassing contemporary high-rises and corporate office blocks.

The completion of the central tower marks a major step in the basilica's long history, fulfilling Antoni Gaudí's original vision. Upon completion, the Sagrada Familia will stand at 172 meters tall, making it the tallest church in Europe and the world's tallest Catholic church, surpassing the Ulm Minster in Germany.

The basilica attracts visitors from around the globe, with around 15% coming from the United States in 2024. Its completion will reflect a story of patience and perseverance, showcasing the power of sacred art in shaping a modern city. While the central tower will be finished by 2026, the entire Sagrada Familia project is expected to continue until around 2036.

The Sagrada Familia's central spire, once completed, will serve as a reminder of Gaudí's vision, where faith, art, and civic identity converge. Primarily funded through entrance fees and private donations, the basilica's completion will be a testament to the dedication of its builders and the enduring appeal of Gaudí's masterpiece.
