S4Capital designates Danny Lee as Managing Director for Greater China in Monks division
In a strategic move to bolster its presence in one of the world's most dynamic markets, Monks, a tech-led digital advertising, marketing, and technology services company, has appointed Danny Lee as the Managing Director for Greater China. Effective immediately, Lee will lead the agency's growth in the region, focusing on creative innovation and strengthening client partnerships through the use of AI and technology.
Lee, a seasoned leader in brand and marketing, brings a wealth of experience across Greater China, the UK, and the Asia-Pacific. Prior to joining Monks, he served as Chief Brand Officer at Bosideng, where he led the brand transformation and global repositioning of one of China's most iconic apparel brands. Before that, he was Marketing Director for Nike Greater China, managing brand campaigns that reinforced Nike's regional leadership.
Earlier in his career, Lee held senior roles at WPP agencies including Ogilvy, Wunderman, and Mindshare, advising Fortune 500 clients on digital transformation and brand innovation. His appointment is a testament to his distinguished record of driving transformative integrated communications and pioneering brand evolution.
Lee will work closely with Dixi Chern, General Manager of Monks Shanghai, to expand Monks’ presence in the Greater China market. The long-term objective for the practices is a split of 50%:25%:25%, with Content accounting for approximately 50% of net revenue, Data&Digital Media 25%, and Technology Services 25%. This aligns with the company's strategy to build a purely digital advertising and marketing services business for global clients, with a focus on integration of marketing services and technology services.
Monks continues to deepen its investment in the Greater China market. The company, established by Sir Martin Sorrell in May 2018, now has approximately 7,000 people in 33 countries, with a geographic split of approximately 80% in the Americas, 15% in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and 5% in Asia-Pacific.
