Rivian Unveils New R2 Electric Crossover, Bolsters Executive Team
Electric vehicle maker Rivian has announced several key appointments and an upcoming vehicle launch. The company, which has been expanding its executive team, is set to unveil its new R2 electric crossover in a few weeks.
Rivian has been on a hiring spree, bringing in executives from established automakers and tech companies. In August 2023, John Krafcik joined Rivian's board. Kjell Gruner, who oversees sales, marketing, and other departments, joined the company in September 2023. Rivian named Alan Hoffman as its chief policy officer in the same month.
Rivian has also made significant strides in its product development. Jonas Reinke joined Rivian as vice president of product management in January 2024. RJ Scaringe will lead all product development at Rivian. The new Rivian R2 will debut on March 7, 2024, and hit the market in 2026. The R2 is expected to cost between $45,000 and $50,000.
In the marketing department, Rivian has hired Jennifer Prenner as vice president of marketing. Prenner previously worked at Meta and Amazon in marketing roles. She will report to Kjell Gruner. Rivian announced Prenner's hiring in a LinkedIn post.
Rivian's recent appointments and upcoming vehicle launch signal the company's continued growth and expansion. Despite a $1.3 billion loss in the third quarter of fiscal year 2023, Rivian is positioning itself for future success with strategic hires and innovative products.
