Revamped Cohort of Cox Cleantech Accelerator Targets Amplification of Energy Systems, Boosts Industrial Productivity, and Upgrades Infrastructure

In a bid to foster innovation and drive economic growth while minimizing environmental impact, the Cox Cleantech Accelerator has announced its latest cohort of five startups. This program, a partnership between Cox Enterprises, gener8tor, and the Georgia Cleantech Innovation Hub, aims to help these companies tap into their first large-scale customers and achieve commercial success.

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Cox Enterprises is a leading player in the broadband, automotive, and media industries, as well as a significant investment platform in emerging technologies. With annual revenues of $23 billion, Cox Enterprises is committed to empowering people to build a better future for the next generation.

The selected startups are:

  1. FNN: This startup uses AI-powered lightning detection to improve utility and wildlife response by pinpointing damage and ignitions in real time.
  2. Uptime Analytics: This company provides AI-driven applications to optimize industrial asset performance, cutting energy waste, reducing emissions, and mitigating risk.
  3. Prezerv: By using AI, Prezerv helps prevent costly delays and improve safety during urban construction by mapping underground utilities.
  4. Stak Mobility: This startup develops automated vertical parking towers that integrate electric vehicle charging and mobile self-service, aiming to reclaim urban space.
  5. WhyGrene: Although some sources are incomplete, WhyGrene is included as part of the cohort, likely involved in sustainable technology given the accelerator's themes.

Gener8tor, a global venture firm and accelerator network that supports various groups across race, place, and gender, partners with various entities to operate accelerator programs and conferences in over 45 communities across 25 states and three countries.

The new cohort was selected for its potential to enhance energy systems, increase industrial efficiency, and improve infrastructure with a focus on economic growth and environmental impact. The startups chosen help keep the lights on during storms, cut energy waste in factories, speed up construction with smarter utility mapping, make it easier to drive and charge electric vehicles in cities, and optimize distributed energy systems.

The International Trade Council recognized gener8tor as the Global Venture Capital Firm of the Year in 2022, and Fast Company named it one of the Best Workplaces for Innovators in 2021 and 2022. The Georgia Cleantech Innovation Hub, a public-private-academic partnership, aims to make innovation a driver of a robust, inclusive cleantech economy.
