Garmin Venu 4: A New Contender in the Smartwatch Market

The technology world has a new player in the smartwatch game, as Garmin has launched the Venu 4 on September 19, 2025. Positioning itself as a competitor to the Apple Watch Series 11, the Garmin Venu 4 offers a range of features that cater to fitness enthusiasts and everyday users alike.

One of the standout features of the Garmin Venu 4 is its advanced sleep tracking capabilities. The watch includes heart rate, respiratory rate, and body temperature monitoring, as well as a wellness baseline prediction. Furthermore, the Venu 4 provides a more comprehensive sleep tracking experience compared to the Apple Watch Series 11, with its sleep score metric offering a more in-depth analysis of sleep quality.

In terms of battery life, the Garmin Venu 4 outshines the Apple Watch Series 11. With an always-on display, the Venu 4 can last up to four days per charge, while using GPS, it can run for up to 20 hours. In contrast, the Apple Watch Series 11 offers a battery life of 24 hours per charge (or 38 hours in low-power mode).

While the Apple Watch Series 11 boasts a larger number of native apps compared to the Garmin Venu 4, the latter's multiband GPS system provides more reliable location tracking in areas with spotty views of the sky. Additionally, the Venu 4 features an onboard LED flashlight with adjustable output, a Body Battery metric that reflects overall energy levels based on recent workouts and sleep patterns, and exercise suggestions for 25 different activity types via the Garmin Coach app.

It's worth noting that the Apple Watch Series 11 does not have a multiband GPS system, and it does not offer the same level of sleep tracking insights as the Venu 4. However, the Apple Watch Series 11 does have a sleep score metric.

The Garmin Venu 4 is available in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, and retails for $549, a $150 increase compared to the Garmin Venu 3. On the other hand, the Apple Watch Series 11 starts at $399 for the smaller 42mm non-cellular model and $499 for the 5G model.

In related news, Garmin has also announced the Garmin Instinct Crossover AMOLED, a rugged, high-tech sports watch with old-school mechanical timekeeping. Furthermore, a free Garmin update has rolled out Lifestyle Logging to all users, allowing them to track and analyse their daily activities in greater detail.

In conclusion, the Garmin Venu 4 offers a compelling alternative to the Apple Watch Series 11, with its advanced sleep tracking features, longer battery life, and comprehensive fitness tracking capabilities. While the Apple Watch Series 11 has a larger number of native apps, the Garmin Venu 4's multiband GPS system, onboard LED flashlight, Body Battery metric, and exercise suggestions via the Garmin Coach app make it a formidable competitor in the smartwatch market.
