Portsmouth Water Unveils £377M AMP8 Plan, Partners for Smart Meters, Environmental Improvements
Portsmouth Water has revealed an ambitious business plan for the AMP8 program, investing £377 million, with £200 million allocated for capital expenditure. The company has established a strategic collaboration with key partners to execute this extensive project, which aims to secure water supplies, improve the environment, and maintain the lowest drinking water bills in England and Wales.
The AMP8 program takes a coordinated, ecosystem approach, working with strategic partners for effective and efficient delivery. Arqiva will provide smart metering technology, communications infrastructure, and data management, enabling customers to monitor and manage their water use. Cappagh will lead the smart meter installation and commissioning program, as well as renewing mains and connecting new developments. Bridges and IWS will drive the non-infrastructure program, upgrading systems and delivering projects such as nitrates removal and UV projects. Tetra Tech will offer design and professional services support, providing guidance and expertise throughout the program.
Portsmouth Water hosted an Eco-System Collaboration Event on 4 September to launch the partnership and explore interdependencies between contracts. The event brought together key partners Cappagh, Arqiva, Bridges and IWS, and Tetra Tech to discuss the program's aims and strategies.
With a £377 million investment, including £200 million in capital expenditure, Portsmouth Water's AMP8 program seeks to safeguard water supplies, enhance the environment, and maintain affordable water bills. Through strategic collaboration with Arqiva, Cappagh, Bridges and IWS, and Tetra Tech, the company is well-positioned to deliver this ambitious business plan effectively and efficiently.
