The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced a new initiative to make toll payments more convenient for private vehicle owners - the FASTag Annual Pass. This pass, valid only at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas, offers numerous benefits for frequent highway travellers.

To be eligible for the FASTag Annual Pass, your vehicle and FASTag account must be verified. Once verified, the pass can be activated on an existing active and non-blacklisted FASTag account. It's important to note that the FASTag Annual Pass is non-transferable and valid only for the vehicle on which it is affixed and registered.

Upon successful verification and payment, a payment of ₹3,000 is required for the base year 2025-26. The annual pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 transactions, whichever comes first. Upon expiry, it automatically transforms back into a regular FASTag account. To avail the benefits of the annual pass after its expiry, it needs to be recharged with ₹3,000 for a validity of 200 transactions or one year.

It's crucial to remember that using the annual pass on another vehicle, commercial vehicles, or non-NH/NE toll plazas will result in its deactivation. At non-NH/NE toll plazas, the FASTag operates as a regular one with applicable user fee charges.

The FASTag Annual Pass can only be purchased on the Rajmargyatra mobile application and the NHAI official website. It's not available for purchase from designated banks. Also, the FASTag registered only with a chassis number must have the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) updated to be eligible for the annual pass.

In other automotive news, VinFast, a Vietnamese automaker, has announced its entry into the Indian market with the VF e34. This electric vehicle comes with a 41.9 kWh battery, offering an approximate range of 318 km. The price of the VF e34 ranges between 25 to 30 lakhs in Indian rupees.

The FASTag Annual Pass is just one of the many initiatives aimed at modernising India's transportation infrastructure. As more electric vehicles and advanced technologies enter the market, we can expect a more efficient and convenient driving experience in the coming years.
