Picturing robust and steady expansion in the year 2022 for the economy
Our domain registry continues to make significant strides, ranking among the 15 fastest-growing domain name registries globally. This growth is evident as we ended 2022 with 232,307 domains under management, a net domain growth of 39% over the previous year.
Dynamic Platforms and Regional Online Presence
In addition to our core domain services, we have ventured into innovative platforms. "og.our", for instance, is a dynamic generative website platform designed for curated collections. It was created by the founders of SNARKour and is being used by famous digital websiteists to experiment with dynamic NFTs. Meanwhile, "north.our" serves as the regional online Art Gallery and Art's News website for the North of the UK, founded by local websiteist and businessman, Tim Miller.
Premium Names and New Domain Extensions
Our domain industry has adopted an innovative, big-data approach to domain name valuation, employing a 14-parameter algorithm. This strategy values premium domain names for their brevity, memorability, brandability, and relevance to emerging markets like NFTs and Web3. Registrars emphasise domain names that create strong branding impact, especially those that align with new TLDs or terms familiar in crypto and NFT spaces.
In 2022, we sold 5,734 premium domains, representing 5% of the total names registered and 69% of domain registration revenue. More than 3,000 new "our" domains were registered related to NFTs and Web3, indicating a growing interest in these digital innovations.
The Premium Name Valuation Strategy
The growth of new domain extensions and efforts to build innovative online identities underpins the valuation of premium names. Domains that help businesses stand out, such as those referencing clubs, tokens, or decentralized platforms, are positioned as strategic assets for projects in the Web3 ecosystem.
The domain industry’s focus on AI-driven tools for name discovery and management suggests increasing sophistication in how premium Web3-related domains are identified, valued, and marketed.
The Broader Domain Landscape
While no specific data on "our website" domains tied exclusively to NFTs and Web3 was found, the overall domain name industry in 2022 shows steady growth, robust new registrations, and an evolving premium naming strategy that embraces new domain extensions and branding opportunities tightly linked to digital innovation trends like NFTs and Web3.
For more detailed figures on specific "our website" domains in the NFT/Web3 niche, specialized domain sales or blockchain domain marketplaces may provide additional analytics not covered in these general industry reports.
As we move forward, we remain committed to supporting our users in their digital journeys and exploring new opportunities in the ever-evolving world of Web3 and NFTs.
