This proactive approach not only keeps our site spam-free but also saves space and speeds up the site.
Each comment's spam status is tracked, allowing moderators to see which comments were flagged or cleared by Akismet. Furthermore, URLs in comments are revealed to expose hidden or misleading links, providing an additional layer of protection.
For forms, Akismet integrates seamlessly. An "Akismet Spam Protection" section is added to the form settings in the website’s editor. The site admin enters the API key from Akismet, then specifies which form fields, such as email or message, should be scanned for spam by pasting their shortcodes into this section. This allows Akismet to scan those fields’ inputs in real time and block spam submissions effectively.
To use Akismet, users must first install and activate the plugin. After that, they need to enter the Akismet API key to connect the site to Akismet’s spam-checking service. From there, the system takes care of the rest, automatically scanning incoming comments and form submissions and filtering out spam. Moderators can review and manage the spam status of comments, while for forms, the configuration of which fields to scan can be done by adding shortcodes in the Akismet Spam Protection settings within the page builder or form editor.
