Philips honors Earth Day on April 22 by offering a lifetime warranty on their refurbished products

In a groundbreaking move, Royal Philips, a leading health technology company headquartered in the Netherlands, has announced that it will offer a lifetime guarantee on refurbished personal care products in France, the United Kingdom, and beyond, starting from Earth Day 2025. This decision follows the success of Philips' initiatives to change the perception of refurbished products and promote them as smart, eco-conscious choices.

The Earth Day offer in 2025 will provide a lifetime warranty for every refurbished personal care product purchased on April 22, 2025, in the Netherlands and Germany. This move is an extension of Philips' pilot project, Refurb Friday, which was launched during Black Friday 2024 in the Benelux countries, aiming to highlight the benefits of refurbished products.

Philips' refurbished products are returned devices that undergo a meticulous restoration and testing process to meet the highest Philips standards. Each product is thoroughly inspected, professionally cleaned, repaired if necessary, retested by Philips experts, and repackaged before being resold.

The company's commitment to sustainability is evident, with refurbished Philips products having a significantly lower ecological footprint compared to manufacturing new products. By 2024, Philips had given over 30,000 body care products a second life and recovered 10.5 tons of materials from returned devices.

Philips' aim is to generate 25% of its revenue from circular products and solutions by 2025. All Philips' products will be designed according to Philips' EcoDesign principles by this date. This expansion of the circular portfolio includes refurbished products, which are part of the company's efforts to reduce waste, reuse materials, and extend the lifespan of quality devices.

Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology for over 130 years, generated EUR 18 billion in revenue and employed approximately 67,800 employees in 2024. The company's press contact can be reached at Press Office Philips GmbH, c/o FleishmanHillard GmbH, Bahnstraße 24, 40212 Düsseldorf, Email: [email protected], Telephone: +49 172 400 4177.

By offering a lifetime warranty on all refurbished body care products sold in the Netherlands and Germany (link: https://www.philips.de/c-e/shop/de-generalueberholt.html), Philips is encouraging consumers to reconsider their purchasing decisions and embrace the benefits of refurbished products. The company's initiatives are not only good for the environment but also offer the same Philips quality and warranty as new products. Refurb Friday, for instance, aimed to raise awareness of reuse and encourage consumers to rethink the definition of "new".

In conclusion, Philips' commitment to sustainability and its efforts to promote refurbished products as smart, eco-conscious choices are commendable. By extending the lifetime warranty on refurbished personal care products, Philips is not only reducing waste but also offering consumers high-quality, affordable products with a lower ecological footprint.
