Nokia Speeds Up AI Emphasis and Collaborative Efforts through Fresh Management Appointments
Nokia, the Finnish multinational communications and information technology company, has announced significant changes in its leadership and the creation of two new organizations. These changes are aimed at strengthening Nokia's capabilities in technology innovation, supporting business development, and creating more focused organizations.
Justin Hotard, President and CEO of Nokia, has welcomed Pallavi Mahajan to the company. Mahajan, previously Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Data Center and Artificial Intelligence Software at Intel, will lead the Technology and AI Organization at Nokia, effective from October 1, 2025. Hotard praised Mahajan's deep technical expertise, commercial acumen, and ability to scale multi-billion-dollar product portfolios at the intersection of AI, mobile, and edge computing.
Mahajan brings a wealth of experience to Nokia, having held several executive roles in the technology industry. She has been instrumental in pioneering supercomputing programs and leading hybrid cloud strategies at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), and spearheading the development towards self-driving networks at Juniper Networks.
In her new role, Mahajan will oversee the Technology and AI Organization, which will integrate Nokia Bell Labs, Technology and AI Leadership, and Group Security. This integration is intended to help Nokia succeed in the AI supercycle by focusing on core technologies, strengthening capabilities in security and AI, and maximizing the value of partnerships in its ecosystem.
Hotard also expressed gratitude towards Nishant Batra for his contribution to Nokia over the past five years. Batra is stepping down as Chief Strategy and Technology Officer and from the Group Leadership Team on 30 September 2025. Batra has played a crucial role in transforming Nokia Bell Labs, positioning Nokia at the forefront of 6G, accelerating digital and security transformation, and leading the execution of the innovation strategy. Mahajan will be his successor in this role.
In addition to the Technology and AI Organization, Nokia has also announced the creation of a Corporate Development Organization. This new organization will be led by Konstanty Owczarek, who previously held executive positions at HPE's High Performance Compute, AI & Labs business. Owczarek brings broad experience in corporate development, investment banking, investing, and strategy to his new role. The Corporate Development Organization is designed to accelerate Nokia's strategy evolution and execution, and support its businesses.
Hotard stated that these changes aim to strengthen Nokia's capabilities in technology innovation, support business development, and create more focused organizations. The new organizations are set to become effective on October 1, 2025. These changes are a testament to Nokia's commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and driving innovation in the communications and information technology industry.
