New Gadget by SCT: HDMI-USB Combination Adapter Launched First

In the ever-evolving world of audio-visual (AV) technology, a significant milestone has been reached with the release of the USB-AMV adapter by Sound Control Technologies. This compact signal converter aims to bridge the gap between what today's video bars need and what most AV systems can deliver, addressing a challenge faced by AV and IT teams when connecting legacy two-cable HDMI/USB systems to new single-port, USB-C devices.

The USB-AMV adapter provides a clean, reliable way to interface with AV devices using existing HDMI and USB sources. It supports full-bandwidth AV signal transfer with uncompressed video and audio, ensuring a seamless connection between modern laptops and AV endpoints. Crucially, the USB-AMV does not require the ripping out of existing infrastructure, making it an attractive solution for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and BYOM (Bring Your Own Meeting) environments.

David Neaderland, the founder, president, and CEO of Sound Control Technologies, highlighted the growing disconnect between what today's video bars need and what most AV systems can deliver. He emphasised that the USB-AMV was designed as a compact, plug-and-play solution, requiring no programming or external power.

The USB-AMV adapter supports both DisplayPort Alt Mode and HDMI Alt Mode, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of DP Alt Mode-capable codecs and video bars. This innovation helps close the gap between modern laptops and AV endpoints in terms of compatibility, eliminating compromises in performance or functionality when connecting legacy systems to modern USB-C devices.

As the industry moves towards convergence and coexistence rather than strict rivalry, the USB-AMV adapter is a testament to the growing importance of USB-C as a universal physical interface that can carry either HDMI or DisplayPort signals via Alt Modes. HDMI Alt Mode and DisplayPort Alt Mode coexist, serving different market segments and device types. HDMI retains dominance in AV consumer devices, while DisplayPort Alt Mode leads in PC-focused, high-performance scenarios. USB-C acts as the common, flexible connector standard facilitating this interoperability without replacing HDMI or DisplayPort but rather bridging them.

With the USB-AMV, Sound Control Technologies has taken a significant step forward in simplifying connectivity and enabling a smoother transition towards a more unified AV ecosystem.
