In the realm of graphics cards, AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060, a new addition to their lineup that promises to offer impressive performance for budget-conscious gamers. The RX 9060 finds itself positioned between Nvidia's RTX 5050 and AMD's own RX 9060 XT, making it an intriguing option for those seeking a balance between cost and power.

The RX 9060, a 8GB card, boasts 28 compute units, 1,792 shaders, 28 ray tracing cores, and a 128-bit bus. In popular titles like Cyberpunk 2077, God of War (2018), and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, the RX 9060's frame rates are close to those of the RTX 5060, making the extra cost unnecessary for most players.

At 1080p resolution, AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 8GB non-XT outperforms Nvidia’s RTX 5050 by about 20%, while it delivers performance very close to Nvidia’s RTX 5060, trailing by roughly 2% on average. The RX 9060 XT, on the other hand, offers only a small uplift (~6%) over the RX 9060 non-XT, so while it leads slightly, the difference is marginal and unlikely to be apparent without benchmark overlays.

The RX 9060's performance in synthetic benchmarks is not significantly different from that of the RTX 5060, further solidifying its place as a strong contender in the budget gaming market. In benchmarks, the RX 9060 performed within 2% of the RTX 5060 and 6% below the RX 9060 XT.

For now, the RX 9060 is an OEM-only card, but if it becomes available in global retail, it could be the value king of its segment. Its performance consistency across high-end and moderate CPUs suggests a sweet spot for budget builds, making it an attractive option for gamers looking to build a powerful system without breaking the bank.

[1] Technosaurus, South Korean YouTuber, benchmarked the RX 9060, revealing that it significantly outperformed the RTX 5050, with frame rates around 80% higher.

[2] The RX 9060 XT is also available in a 16GB variant that is better suited for more demanding 1440p and VRAM-heavy games.

[3] Both the RX 9060 XT and the RTX 5050 are capable at 1080p, but the RX 9060 XT consistently beats the RTX 5050 by a significant margin in tests.

[4] The Sapphire Pulse variant of the RX 9060 was tested in the benchmarks.

[5] The card runs at approximately 3 GHz and consumes about 135 watts under load. The RX 9060 scored 14,132 points in 3DMark's Time Spy, and 35,511 points in Fire Strike.

The Radeon RX 9060's impressive performance in gaming titles like Cyberpunk 2077, God of War (2018), and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is comparable to that of Nvidia's RTX 5060, making it a cost-effective choice for budget-conscious gamers. In benchmarks, this gadget demonstrates strong performance consistency across various CPUs, positioning it as a valuable addition to budget builds powered by artificial-intelligence and technology.
