NBA Africa Restarts Triple-Double Accelerator Program to Support African Sports-Tech Businesses

The NBA Africa has launched the second edition of its Triple-Double Accelerator program, aiming to support early-stage African startups building solutions in sports and the creative economy. This year's program is backed by ServiceNow, an enterprise AI platform, enhancing the accelerator by leveraging AI capabilities to support the startups' operational efficiency and growth.

The 10-week accelerator, once again managed by ALX Ventures, a pan-African incubator, focuses on providing financial support, mentorship, and access to networks. The program emphasises product development, business growth, and go-to-market strategies within the sports and creative industries.

Interested startups can apply for the program through Aug. 29 at TripleDoubleAccelerator.NBA.com. After the application window closes, 10 startups will be selected to join the mentorship program.

Last year's program demonstrated the talent, passion, and creativity among African entrepreneurs, according to Clare Akamanzi, CEO of NBA Africa. The culmination of the accelerator is a Demo Day in December, where the top five startups will receive financial awards and ongoing mentorship support.

Four startups - Festival Coins, Salubata, HustleSasa, and UBR VR - were the prize winners after the Demo Day at NBA HQ in New York City. The mentors for this year's program include leaders from NBA Africa, ServiceNow, ALX, and other corporate partners.

The Triple-Double Accelerator program is a significant step in supporting Africa's booming tech and creative ecosystem. By providing the necessary resources and guidance, the program is set to foster innovation and growth in the African startup scene.
