NASCAR Implements Comprehensive Samsung Surveillance Setup
NASCAR has partnered with Samsung to revolutionise its race-day operations, with the implementation of the remote race control room. This significant step forward will offer enhanced precision and improved decision-making for officials during live races.
The heart of the control room is Samsung's The Wall, a stunning 32-foot wide and 9-foot high display. During races, as many as 24 officials will utilise The Wall to access replays from the SBG Sports Software system, which can aggregate up to 200 camera angles, all driver audio, and voice-to-text transcription of team radio transmissions.
The Wall's true-to-life picture quality delivers footage and data with the finest level of detail, offering exceptional clarity for reviewing real-time video feeds and audio. This high-resolution display enables officials to make accurate calls during race events, while its integration supports data analysis by enabling the simultaneous visualization of multiple feeds and race data with fine detail.
In addition to The Wall, officials will also use 25 27-inch ViewFinity S6 monitors and seven 49-inch Odyssey G9 monitors. The Odyssey G9 monitors offer extensive screen real estate for simultaneous data viewing, further enhancing the officials' ability to monitor and manage the races.
The remote race control room is housed in NASCAR's production facility in Concord, North Carolina. This state-of-the-art facility will enable NASCAR to remotely officiate large-scale races nationwide. The new control room will be operational for the NASCAR Cup Series starting from Feb. 2.
