Mitsubishi Unveils 2026 Outlander Lineup with Electrification and Interior Refinements

Mitsubishi Motors has announced significant updates to its 2026 lineup, with a focus on electrification, interior refinement, and strategic trim enhancements.

The star of the show is the refreshed Outlander Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), which boasts a larger-capacity battery for improved all-electric range, redesigned interior materials, heated and cooled front seats, a redesigned center console, new 20-inch wheels, and smoked rear taillights. Exterior styling tweaks include a new front bumper and grille, making the Outlander PHEV more stylish and efficient than ever.

The standard Outlander, on the other hand, will replace its 2.5-liter engine with a new turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with Mitsubishi’s first mild-hybrid system. This upgrade will boost torque, acceleration, and drivability. The standard Outlander will also gain two new trims—the LE positioned between ES and SE, and the top-tier SEL Black Edition—as well as the return of the performance-oriented Ralliart model.

The 2026 Outlander lineup will include a new LE trim, a returning Ralliart edition, and a new top-tier SEL Black Edition. The Outlander Plug-in Hybrid's ride has been recalibrated for greater responsiveness and composure, ensuring a smoother drive.

Mitsubishi is also expanding its Trail Edition offerings for the 2026 model year, including the Outlander Sport and the standard Outlander. These Trail Edition trims offer off-road-ready enhancements like model-specific trim, graphics, wheels, dealer-installed all-terrain tires, and accessory kits featuring Thule roof racks and mounts.

The 2026 Outlander Sport remains one of Mitsubishi's strongest sellers, praised for its value, capability, and reliability. Standard equipment for the 2026 Outlander Sport includes Mitsubishi's All-Wheel Control (AWC) system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rear-seat warning system, and easily accessible LATCH anchors for child safety seats.

Regarding the Eclipse Cross, it undergoes minor updates focused on trim-level adjustments; notably, the GT trim drops embedded navigation in favor of remote engine start to better suit driver preferences. Every Eclipse Cross continues to come equipped with Mitsubishi's S-AWC all-wheel drive.

The 2026 model year represents a pivotal step in Mitsubishi Motors' Momentum 2030 plan, focusing on increased electrification, greater product variety, and long-term customer satisfaction. Every new vehicle also comes with a 2-year/30,000-mile maintenance program.

Mitsubishi is introducing a mild-hybrid gasoline-electric powertrain in the 2026 Outlander. The Outlander Plug-in Hybrid's drive battery capacity has been increased for extended all-electric driving range, and its interior has been redesigned for a quieter ride quality.

All Mitsubishi vehicles are covered by a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, five-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty, seven-year/100,000-mile corrosion/perforation warranty, and five years of unlimited mileage roadside assistance. The 2026 Eclipse Cross will have its embedded navigation system discontinued, and the "Eclipse Cross" hood badging will be standard on SEL and SEL Touring trims.

The 2026 Outlander is expected to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2025. Mitsubishi Motors North America's Momentum 2030 plan pledges to introduce a new or significantly updated model each year through the end of the decade. With these updates, Mitsubishi is poised to continue delivering high-quality, efficient, and capable vehicles to its customers.
