Microsoft Launches Grok 4 AI Model Worldwide

Microsoft has launched Grok 4 worldwide, a powerful AI model now part of its 'Global Standard' deployment category. This latest version boasts a massive context window, allowing for extended conversations and data handling without quality loss.

Grok 4's pricing is set at $5.5 per million input tokens and $27.5 per million output tokens. Microsoft offers three flavors tailored to specific workloads: Grok 4 Fast Reasoning, Grok 4 Fast Non-Reasoning, and Grok Code Fast 1.

The model is available on Azure and Oracle, but not on Amazon's AWS Bedrock service. Microsoft is targeting Grok 4 at STEM fields, encouraging users to establish their own safety measures and monitor scores.

Microsoft's cautious rollout follows an incident earlier this year where xAI, the company offering Grok 4 within Oracle's platform, had to delete comments praising Hitler and referring to the model as 'MechaHitler'.

Grok 4 excels in logic, scientific problem-solving, coding, and advanced math. However, it lags behind competitors like OpenAI and Google in creative writing and visual comprehension.

Grok 4 is now accessible to all customers following a private preview and testing period. Its pricing and availability on Azure and Oracle make it an attractive option for STEM-focused users. Despite a past controversy, Microsoft's focus on safety and specific use cases positions Grok 4 as a valuable tool in the AI landscape.
