At this year's Prolight + Sound event in Halle 4.0, the spotlight was on the potential of livestreaming to revolutionise live production processes. The Live Production Forum showcased total coverage for live production, with solutions for professional live transmission, and some products even allowing for a streaming encoder to be streamed directly via the internet.

One of the highlights was the use of livestreaming by industry magazines, DJs, and companies for trade fair reporting. "Production Partner" utilised livestreaming to transmit interviews, conversations, and reports live on its own Facebook channel, while DJ Release played live sets at Halle 5.0 and transmitted them via video stream on the Omnitronic Facebook page. Laserworld also conducted the first Trade Fair Live Talk, featuring Prolight + Sound Director Michael Biwer, and used both Facebook and YouTube for livestreaming.

Tobias Trummer, Manager and Co-Founder of New Media AV, emphasised that Prolight + Sound provides an opportunity to increase brand visibility within the industry. However, he also noted that livestreaming isn't widespread in the live market yet.

The use of livestreaming at the event showcased its potential for enhancing trade fair reporting and engagement. Viewers could interact directly with comments during the livestreaming of the Trade Fair Live Talk by Laserworld, demonstrating the growing acceptance and integration of livestreaming in the professional live market.

At Prolight + Sound 2018, New Media AV presented brands revolving around live production and livestreaming, including Blackmagic Design, Livestream, Litepanels, Sachtler, Vinten, Anton/Bauer, and Autocue. These brands, although successful in the consumer area, are not well-known in the professional industry.

The current trend and future development of professional livestreaming in the event industry, as exemplified by Prolight + Sound 2018, focus on expanding global reach, enhancing audience engagement, and integrating advanced technologies to improve event experiences. The future direction highlighted at that time and continuing into 2025 includes increasing global demand, enhanced interactivity, technology integration, professional services growth, revenue and market size expansion, and omnichannel strategy adoption.

These developments position livestreaming as a central, transformative element in the event industry's future, opening events to worldwide audiences, enabling real-time viewer interaction, and transforming live events into rich, interactive experiences with robust commercial potential. It remains to be seen how the trend of livestreaming in professional events will develop in the coming years.
