Latest news: Apple CEO Tim Cook hints at significant iPhone revamp coming this week

Apple has scheduled a product launch event for Wednesday, February 19, 2025, teasing the arrival of a "newest member of the family." While the exact product remains a mystery, the event's timing and previous product cycles suggest that Apple is likely to unveil a new iPhone SE model or the iPhone 16E.

According to current rumours, the iPhone SE 4 or a new iPhone SE model is expected to be unveiled on February 19. This prediction is based on the event's early-year timing and the fact that Apple typically refreshes the SE line around this period. On the other hand, the iPhone 16E, which was launched earlier in 2025, is not expected to make a reappearance so soon.

The iPhone 16E, if released, is rumoured to be priced at up to $499 and come in white. It is also speculated to have a design similar to the iPhone 14, featuring an OLED display and an action button. The device is also rumoured to be Apple Intelligence-ready and to feature an Apple A17/A18 Bionic chip.

If the iPhone 16E rebrand occurs, it would effectively retire the SE line of smartphones, providing a more consistent, budget-conscious, mid-range release for iPhone users to look forward to. This would also introduce an affordable mid-range option similar to Google's Pixel A series and Samsung's FE series offerings.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has built anticipation for the event by posting on X, inviting everyone to "get ready to meet the newest member of the family." The product that Cook hinted at could potentially be the iPhone 16E, as it seems to fit the description of the "newest member of the family" more closely.

While the iPhone 16E is the most likely candidate for the event, there's a possibility that the product in question could be a new HomePod device or the MacBook Air M4, as they are also rumoured to be unveiled soon. However, there is no direct evidence linking these devices to the February 19 unveiling.

Stay tuned for more updates as we await Apple's big reveal on February 19, 2025.
