Latest Feature Update for TIP Tool: Harmonization with Document Management Software

The TIP Tool™, a leading patent management platform, has recently introduced an innovative feature aimed at simplifying patent docketing workflows and centralizing patent management under one roof. The IP Docketing System Sync allows users to synchronize their existing docketing systems with the TIP Tool™, providing a unified, strategic view of an IP portfolio.

This feature works by enabling users to directly import patent data from their docketing software into the TIP Tool platform. The setup process involves a step-by-step import of data via a unique email configuration. Users can then map relevant data fields from their docketing software to the TIP Tool and choose appropriate sync modes to keep data aligned and up-to-date.

By syncing the docketing system with the TIP Tool, users avoid scattered information and consolidate patent docketing, deadlines, and portfolio strategy in a single interface. This integration is designed to simplify patent docketing workflows significantly, from tracking deadlines to analyzing portfolio status, enabling patent professionals to be more strategic and efficient in managing their intellectual property.

The sync feature supports syncing foreign patent applications, although there is no live integration with external patent office databases for foreign applications. Users should regularly upload exports from their docketing system to keep foreign application records up to date.

The Docketing System page in the control panel lists each configured docketing system with options to update details, view mapped fields, deactivate sync, access history logs, and delete mapping. Users can send one file per docketing system per day, with the system automatically handling most of the field mapping and prompting the user to choose whether to add new records, update existing ones, or add and update both.

The TIP Tool™ offers additional features such as an idea capture platform, enterprise-wide collaboration capabilities, an art unit predictor tool, examiner analysis capabilities, patent family tree visualization, and more. The platform has been designed to reduce friction in patent management for small to medium-sized enterprises.

With up-to-date application details synced into the Portfolio Manager, users can instantly see the status of applications, identify filings requiring urgent action, better assess patent resource consumption, align prosecution efforts with strategic goals, and have clearer visibility across portfolios. The TIP Tool™ also predicts the potential cost associated with each patent, making idea capturing and nurturing more intuitive.

The TIP Tool™ is open to feedback from its users and continues to evolve to meet the needs of patent professionals. The introduction of the IP Docketing System Sync feature is a testament to the platform's commitment to providing seamless, efficient patent administration.
