In the world of e-readers, the anticipation for large-screen color devices has been building, with Amazon's Kindle Scribe Color and Elipsa Color being highly anticipated.

Recent reports suggest that the Kindle Scribe Color is expected to hit the market in late 2025 or mid-2026. This timeline is a result of Amazon's gradual introduction of color e-paper devices, as they navigate production challenges and respond to market demand.

Meanwhile, the Kindle Colorsoft series has seen a significant update in 2025. Amazon released an improved 2025 edition featuring a better 7" Kaleido color display, enhanced hardware, and increased use of recycled materials. This model addresses earlier issues such as yellow bands and is currently available in Europe and Japan.

Unfortunately, no specific release date for the Elipsa Color device has been announced yet. The large-screen color e-paper production delays by E Ink may be a contributing factor, as they are currently operating beyond capacity with their new manufacturing line for large-format panels.

E Ink has also announced plans to release large-screen e-notebooks in 2025 for both domestic Chinese and international markets. This move is part of an ongoing effort to improve cost efficiency and performance in mid-sized e-paper screens, which continue to be a foundation for stable operations.

Other brands such as Onyx Boox have color models available or announced for earlier dates, demonstrating a growing market demand for large-screen color e-paper devices.

As we move towards the second half of 2025, the wait for the Kindle Scribe Color and Elipsa Color continues. The challenges in large-scale production will need to be addressed for these devices to reach consumers, but the excitement remains palpable in the e-reader community.
