Lambda Synthetics' PolyPulse innovations may potentially free you from the confines of the 16-step synthesizer format.

Lambda Synthetics Introduces the PolyPulse Algorithmic Performance Workstation

In a groundbreaking move, Lambda Synthetics has unveiled the PolyPulse, a powerful standalone performance and composition instrument. Debuted at the Superbooth trade show in 2023, the PolyPulse offers a unique blend of innovative sequencing and arrangement capabilities, making it an attractive tool for creative sound designers and performers alike.

The PolyPulse features five independent tracks, each equipped with its own algorithmic sequencer, polyphonic sound engine, and audio effects chain. Each track can generate multiple voices simultaneously, providing ample room for complex rhythmic and melodic patterns. The interface includes a dedicated XY touchpad per track, allowing for expressive control, as well as 32 encoders, 13 potentiometers, and 65 keyboard-style buttons—25 of which form a two-octave playable keyboard.

The PolyPulse's sequencer treats rhythm and pitch independently, using an algorithmic system with four independent 'pulses' on each track. This system enables intricate rhythmic patterns and melodies, opening up a world of creative possibilities.

The PolyPulse's sound processing includes a wide range of effects such as compression, reverb, delay, EQ, filter, drive, and tape emulation. Each track has four effects slots, and the master bus also has four effects slots, providing ample opportunities for sound shaping.

The PolyPulse boasts a robust I/O setup, including a stereo headphone output, four audio inputs, eight audio outputs, 5-pin DIN MIDI in/out and trigger in/out, and an Ethernet port for updating firmware and uploading samples.

One of the standout features of the PolyPulse is its modulation system. This system allows for the assignment of a multi-waveform LFO, AD envelope, 16-step sequencer, or randomizer to any destination across its sound engines, effects, and other modulators, offering extensive control over the sound.

The PolyPulse is equipped with five sound engines: classic subtractive synthesis, FM, additive, granular, and physical modelling, as well as a 'quad engine' for drum synthesis and stereo sample playback.

Priced at £1769/$2099, the PolyPulse is now in production and available for purchase at Thomann (UK/EU) and Perfect Circuit (US). With its innovative features and versatile capabilities, the PolyPulse is poised to become a staple in the world of electronic music production and performance.
