Innovations and Updates in Windows 11 to Debut in August 2025: AI Agents, Refreshed BSOD Screens, and More
**New AI Features Roll Out for Windows 11**
Microsoft has begun the rollout of several new AI features for Windows 11, with the first wave available now for users who have compatible hardware and have enabled the latest updates. This includes Snapdragon-powered Copilot+ PCs, which are receiving the features first.
The general availability of these features is targeted for the end of August 2025, with most users expected to receive the updates by this time. Microsoft is phasing the rollout, so not everyone will see the updates immediately; users can access the features sooner by enabling the "Get the latest updates as they become available" option in Windows Update.
## Copilot+ Features
Copilot+ PCs, which include Snapdragon, Intel, and AMD devices, will have access to exclusive features such as the AI Agent in Settings, Copilot Vision, Relight in Photos, Object Select in Paint, Perfect Screenshot in Snipping Tool, and Quick Machine Recovery.
The AI Agent in Settings allows users to change settings by typing or speaking requests in natural language. Copilot Vision lets Copilot see your desktop, app, or browser content and provide contextual help. Relight in Photos offers one-click AI-powered portrait lighting adjustments, and Object Select in Paint is an AI-powered object selection tool for editing. Perfect Screenshot in Snipping Tool offers AI-enhanced screenshot capture and editing, while Quick Machine Recovery provides a streamlined system reset/restoration.
Copilot Vision is currently available only in the United States, but it is expected to roll out to more markets in the coming months. Object Select in Paint is a Copilot+ exclusive smart selection tool that makes cutting out specific items from a photo easy. Microsoft is also rolling out a new feature called quick machine recovery, which attempts to automatically detect, troubleshoot, and restore the OS to a bootable state should the PC find itself in a boot loop.
## Other Features
All PCs will see the new search bar UI in the Settings app. The Snipping Tool app is also gaining a built-in color picker, which eliminates the need for third-party tools to check hex codes of colors. Paint is also gaining a new sticker generator feature, which is a Copilot+ exclusive and only useful within the Paint app.
Microsoft is redesigning the BSOD on Windows 11, replacing the iconic blue screen with a more simplified black screen that displays an error message. The new BSOD screen is faster, displaying for only around 2 seconds instead of 40 seconds.
## Regional Availability
Copilot Vision is only available to users in the United States at the moment, but it is expected to roll out to more markets in the coming months. Not all features are available for non-Copilot+ PCs yet; capabilities will expand as updates continue.
Stay tuned for Microsoft’s official announcements for precise regional dates as the rollout expands.
