Samsung's much-anticipated tri-fold smartphone, rumoured to be named the Galaxy G Fold, is set to make its debut at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025. However, the device is not expected to be available for purchase until October 2025 [2].

The South Korean tech giant has confirmed that the tri-fold phone will indeed be launched by the end of 2025, with Samsung's acting head of device experience, TM Roh, stating that they are focusing on perfecting the product and will soon finalize its name [3][4].

At the summer Unpacked event, Samsung showcased the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Flip 7 FE, Fold 7, and the newest Galaxy Watch 8 series. It appears that the tri-fold device was not ready for unveiling at this event, as Samsung seemed to focus more on its Android XR device, possibly indicating that the tri-fold device is still under development [5].

Early rumours suggest that the tri-fold device might debut between late 2025 and early 2026. Contrary to earlier speculation, it might not be as thin as Huawei's Mate XT [6]. The Galaxy Fold 7 is rumoured to slimmer due to ditching the S Pen [7].

Details about the tri-fold device's specifications, unique features, and design elements, such as the 10-inch display and new hardware, remain undisclosed [8][9]. However, rumours suggest that a new "display and film" technology may be integrated into the device's display [10].

Interestingly, the tri-fold device was teased following the Galaxy S25 series launch [11]. The device's name has yet to be officially confirmed, but it is anticipated to be released by the end of 2025 at the latest [12].

In another development, the Galaxy Watch 8 series has been made thinner while incorporating new health and sleep-focused features [13]. Despite speculation, Samsung's winter Galaxy Unpacked event in January did not reveal any details about the tri-fold device.

Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming Galaxy G Fold as we approach its expected launch in October 2025.
