IEEE Spectrum Launches 'Save Article' Feature for Logged-In Users

IEEE Spectrum, a leading technology magazine, has implemented a 'Save Article' feature for its logged-in users. This functionality, integrated into the user experience, allows readers to bookmark articles for later access. The default save icon is a red heart, positioned in the top left corner of articles.

The 'Save Article' feature is not unique to IEEE Spectrum, with similar functions found on various platforms such as social media and bookmarking sites. To enable this feature on IEEE Spectrum, the 'Like Button' option must be activated in the Layout & Design Tool. However, the save article icon on the platform is currently a bookmark, not a heart.

Saved articles can be accessed on the user's profile page. If a user attempts to save an article while logged out or not a member, they are redirected to a sign-in page for account creation or login. For those who prefer an alternative to the heart icon, a ribbon icon can be used by adding specific CSS to a Custom CSS element.

IEEE Spectrum's 'Save Article' feature, accessible via a red heart icon, enables users to bookmark articles for later reading. This functionality is common across various online platforms and can be enabled and customized using specific tools and CSS.
