ICEYE and SATIM team up for collaboration on innovative AI-driven Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) analysis product development

In a groundbreaking collaboration, space technology company ICEYE and AI specialist SATIM have announced plans to jointly develop new AI-powered Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery analysis products. This partnership, set to commence in 2025, aims to revolutionise the detection and classification of mobile platforms on land, sea, and air by combining ICEYE's SAR satellite data with SATIM's advanced AI-driven object detection and classification technologies.

ICEYE, known for its hourly revisit rates for locations worldwide and ownership of the world's largest SAR satellite constellation, will bring high-resolution imagery to the table. With scene sizes up to 840 km, the Finnish company plans to launch over 20 new satellites annually from 2025, providing customers with unprecedented access to 25 cm high-resolution imagery of any location on Earth.

On the other hand, SATIM, a leading AI technology company specialising in Automatic Target Recognition using SAR imagery, will contribute its data-agnostic, near real-time solutions. SATIM's offerings, which cover a wide catalogue of objects, include three highly accurate AI-based solutions that enable fast, highly accurate detection, classification, and identification of targets.

The partnership's primary goal is to provide customers with easy, direct access to actionable intelligence and insights through the combination of ICEYE's SAR imagery and SATIM's AI-driven SAR image analytics. This collaboration is expected to enhance situational awareness capabilities in sectors such as defence, government, maritime, and commercial surveillance.

Jacek Strzelczyk, CEO and co-founder of SATIM, stated that the collaboration with ICEYE is an important milestone in SATIM's pursuit of excellence in AI-powered SAR analytics. Rafal Modrzewski, CEO and co-founder of ICEYE, expressed that the partnership with SATIM is a significant step towards ICEYE becoming the global source of truth.

After an initial pilot phase, the partners plan to release a series of generally-available products in 2025. This initiative represents a cutting-edge fusion of SAR satellite imaging and AI analytics to provide rapid, reliable, and scalable detection and classification solutions for various mobile platforms on land, sea, and air, reinforcing technological leadership in Earth observation and security intelligence applications.
