Hyundai Unveils Compact EV, Concept Three, at IAA Mobility 2025

Hyundai Motor Company has made a bold move in the European market with the unveiling of its first compact electric vehicle under the Ioniq sub-brand, Concept Three. The unveiling took place at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich.

Concept Three is part of Hyundai's broader electrification journey and embodies the company's vision for practical, accessible, and emotionally resonant mobility. The car slots beneath Hyundai's midsize and large EVs, aiming at Europe's fast-growing B-segment, driven by urbanisation, sustainability rules, and shrinking parking spaces.

José Muñoz, CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe, announced a bold strategy for electrifying Hyundai's model lineup in Europe. As part of this plan, Hyundai will launch a regional electric vehicle, the Ioniq 3, next year. The company aims to have every model in Europe electrified by 2027, expanding to 21 global EVs by 2030.

Inside Concept Three, an anodised-effect exterior finish is matched with lemon-tinted glass and wheels. The cabin combines soft yellow and grey tones, ocean-waste textiles, and aluminium foam, demonstrating sustainability can feel premium. Modular "Bring Your Own Lifestyle" widgets allow drivers to personalise the cabin, while Parametric Pixel lighting, both front and rear, forms a shifting gradient, making Hyundai's visual signature bolder.

The "Aero Hatch" profile of Concept Three features a sleek roofline and vertical tailgate for city-friendly practicality. The design follows Hyundai's new Art of Steel design language, featuring three flowing surfaces and taut lines.

Concept Three also brings some joy with the appearance of a mascot named "Mr. Pix" in hidden spots within the cabin. Hyundai's focus on sustainable materials in its design is evident throughout Concept Three, signifying the company's intent to compete in Europe's urban EV market.

Hyundai showcases seven electrified models, including Concept Three and the Insteroid concept, at its 58-metre-wide city-centre stand during IAA Mobility 2025. Visitors can test-drive nine vehicles, ranging from the Ioniq 9 to the Inster, at Hyundai's stand.

Hydrogen technology is also in Hyundai's plans, with production shifting to renewable energy. The company's commitment to sustainability and electrification is clear, and Concept Three is a testament to this commitment.
