Hybrid sedan from Geely Galaxy, the A7 model, garnered more than 10,000 orders on its initial day of launch.
Geely Galaxy A7: A Practical and Economical Mid-Size Hybrid Sedan
The Geely Galaxy A7, a mid-size plug-in hybrid sedan, has made its debut, offering a blend of performance, fuel efficiency, and technology. The sedan is powered by the advanced NordThor AI Electric Hybrid 2.0 (EM-i) system, which pairs a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-4 petrol engine with an electric motor to produce a combined output of approximately 175 kW (235 hp).
The Galaxy A7, measuring roughly 4,918 mm long with a 2,845 mm wheelbase, showcases Geely’s "Galaxy Ripple" design language. It boasts full-width LED light bars front and rear, a trapezoidal chrome-trimmed air intake, traditional door handles, and a clean hidden exhaust layout.
Inside, the high-tech cabin offers a harmonious blend of physical controls and digital displays, including a 15.4-inch 2.5K central touchscreen running Flyme Auto, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a 16.6-inch head-up display on higher trims. Comfort is enhanced with 10-layer cotton candy SPA seats, 14-point acupressure massage functions, front seat ventilation, heating, and massage options. The interior offers extensive storage — 28 compartments — and a large trunk (535 liters expandable to 988 liters).
The Galaxy A7 integrates multiple driver-assistance systems, ranging from basic L2 autonomy (five cameras, two radars) to the advanced G-Pilot H3 package featuring 11 cameras, three radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and a Journey 6 chipset enabling highway navigation assist, automated parking, and OTA updates. Additional features include wireless charging, smartphone connectivity via HiCar, CarPlay, Flyme Link, and ICCOA, as well as advanced safety construction and six airbags.
The hybrid system intelligently switches between electric-only, petrol-only, or combined modes. It offers “Range Extender” mode for prioritizing electric range with engine support and a performance mode for maximum power output.
Competing with the BYD Seal 06 DM-i, the Galaxy A7 positions itself as an economical and practical mid-size hybrid sedan option in the Chinese and global markets.
The Geely Galaxy A7, developed based on Geely's GEA architecture (Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture), has received over 10,000 firm orders and is priced starting around RMB 89,800 ($12,500) before trade-in discounts. Customers who purchase any variant of the Galaxy A7 before September 30 will receive a trade-in discount of RMB 8,000, bringing the actual starting price to RMB 81,800.
The news about the Geely Galaxy A7 was announced today, but the event where it was launched occurred yesterday during an evening event. The company announcing the news is Geely Auto, with stock symbol HKG: 0175.
