High-end audio brand Astell & Kern reveals its latest top-tier portable music player, boasting high-resolution streaming capabilities and a revamped internal architecture.
Astell & Kern Unveils New Flagship Products
Astell & Kern, a renowned manufacturer of high-end audio equipment, has recently introduced three new products to its lineup: the A&ultima SP4000 portable music player, the Luna in-ear monitors (IEMs), and the XIO IEMs.
The A&ultima SP4000 is priced around $5,399 and was officially released around late July 2025. This stylish device, crafted from stainless steel and PVD-coated ceramic, boasts an Octa circuit architecture for precise digital signal delivery to a single DAC. It also supports high-resolution PCM files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512, and comes with a Perlinger leather case.
The SP4000 offers approximately 10 hours of continuous playback on a single charge and takes around 4 hours to fully charge. It also features the BT Sink function, allowing it to connect to an external device via Bluetooth and function as a wireless DAC. The SP4000 supports the aptX Adaptive and LDAC Bluetooth codecs for 24-bit audio playback.
Astell & Kern has partnered with 64 Audio to produce the XIO IEMs, a 10-driver model featuring an isobaric cone-to-magnet driver configuration. The XIO is housed in a stainless steel shell with a black coating. More details about the XIO IEMs and their release date are yet to be confirmed.
The Luna IEMs, another new addition to Astell & Kern's lineup, come with hi-fi grade silver-coated and copper cables and an included 4.4mm balanced plug. The pricing and availability for both the SP4000, the XIO, and the Luna are yet to be confirmed.
Both the Luna and the XIO IEMs will be officially unveiled in Q3 of 2025, with more information set to land next week at Munich. Keep an eye out for updates on these exciting new products!
