The Hohen Pritz and Sternberg volunteer fire departments are working towards establishing a high-rise rescue unit operational by January 2026. This initiative is part of a larger plan to have three such units operational in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by the same date.

The total cost for establishing the unit is estimated to be 30,000 euros. As of the announcement, the county has contributed around 20,000 euros towards the equipment costs for all three high-rise rescue units. The local wind energy operator has covered the professional qualification costs for the future high-rise rescuers, approximately 15,000 euros. However, the remaining costs for the Hohen Pritz high-rise rescue unit (10,000 euros) are to be raised through additional funding or donations.

The high-rise rescue unit will cover challenging rescue operations from heights and depths within a 100-kilometer radius. Potential deployment sites for the Hohen Pritz and Sternberg specialists could include church towers, wind turbines, high-voltage lines, and deep shafts.

Individuals, organizations, groups, and associations can donate to the Hohen Pritz and Sternberg high-rise rescuers through the online platform Gofundme. Traditional support can also be offered, as announced by the municipality on Facebook.
