Herford Police Crack Down on E-scooter Violations: 55 Offenses in One Day

On Monday, September 29, 2025, Herford County police conducted a county-wide inspection of electric micro-vehicles, focusing on E-scooters and Pedelecs. The operation targeted school routes and pedestrian zones in Herford and Bünde, resulting in numerous violations.

Out of 70 vehicles inspected, a staggering 55 violations were found. The police discovered several concerning trends. Ten vehicle users were riding against the prescribed direction on bike paths, while ten others were found using a smartphone while driving. Additionally, 30 cases involved unauthorized use of traffic areas, such as sidewalks and pedestrian zones.

In seven instances, two people were found riding E-scooters simultaneously. Furthermore, insurance was missing for five vehicles, and two cases involved children under 14 operating E-scooters.

The Herford County police are committed to improving traffic safety and preventing accidents involving electric micro-vehicles.
